Audits are one week. Fractional CTO work runs 3-6 months at 1-2 days a week. Embedded build work usually lasts 4-12 weeks.
I prefer weekly retainers, they keep both sides honest. Audits and discovery work are flat fee. True hourly is reserved for short, well-defined tasks.
